Bulk import from Excel and CSV
Start from the file you already keep. Bahi Khata reads it, shows you what it found, and saves only after you confirm.
What it does
- Import stock from an Excel or CSV file up to 20 MB. A blank template and filled in samples show what the importer expects.
- See how your columns were matched before you go on. A column that is not recognised is ignored, and rows can be edited or removed in the preview.
- Rows that look like they are already in your inventory are flagged in the preview.
- Import invoices from a file in the same way: map the columns, preview, then save. An invoice number already in your books is skipped, or updated only after you approve a before and after preview.
- Import payments from a file in the same way: map the columns, preview, then save.
How it works
- Download the blank template, or a filled in sample, and put your data in it.
- Drop the file in the import window, or click to choose it.
- Check how the columns were matched. A column that is not recognised is ignored, so rename its heading in your file if you want it read.
- Review the rows in the preview, edit or remove any, then confirm the import.
Questions
What file types can I import?
Excel (.xlsx and .xls) and CSV files, up to 20 MB for a stock file.
Is anything saved before I confirm?
No. You see a preview of what was found first, and rows are saved only after you confirm.
What if my file has columns Bahi Khata does not know?
They are marked as not recognised and ignored. Rename the heading to one Bahi Khata accepts if you want that column read. The invoice and payment imports let you map columns yourself.
What if I import the same file twice?
A stock file is added again, which doubles the stock. Importing never updates or replaces stock already in your books, so import each file once and edit existing items in Inventory. Rows that look like repeats are flagged in the preview.
